Hi, My name is Dyamond Ott and I’m 13 years old.
I’m a double organ transplant recipient. I received
my ‘gift of life’ on Sept. 21, 2006 when I
had life-saving liver and kidney transplants.
A transplanted kidney has a life expectancy of 12 to
18 years; I will be facing multiple kidney transplants
in my lifetime. My family and I hope and pray my new liver
will last my entire life. My 9 year-old sister, Dallas
has the same liver disease and the potential for a similar
transplant. I will need lifelong anti-rejection medicines
and will continue to have medical expenses in the future
that are associated with the transplants. All proceeds
will go towards transplant-related expenses.
After learning this information, and knowing that my
younger sister is potentially looking at having to go down
the same path, I have decided that I want to do everything
in my power to educate people and bring awareness to organ
and tissue donation. That is why we have launched the ‘Dyamond
Forever’ campaign. We appreciate your help and prayers!
